The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) changed the motorcycle practical test on 27th April 2009.  It is now a two part test which has enabled the DSA to provide facilities at a greater number of locations.  The aim is to provide candidates with a practical test centre within 20 miles or a 45 minute ride.  The previous proposal to provide both parts of the

new test as part of the same booking meant that new test centres had to be established to provide an area suitable for the off road element which had to be close enough to routes appropriate for the road ride.  This proved impractical in a number of locations.  Changing to a two part test means that sites only suitable for Module 1 can now be used, and Module 2 can be conducted from some of the existing driving test centres.

Module 1 is a series of manoeuvres conducted on an off-road area and includes exercises like slalom, figure of 8, U-turn, slow ride, emergency braking and braking avoidance.  Module 1 has to be passed before you can attempt Module 2 which is similar to the current on-road test.  Having passed a theory test you will have two years in which to complete both parts of the practical test.

The DSA has announced that in October ‘09 the test fee will increase to £15.50 for Module 1 and to £75 for Module 2.
At Genesis we are providing training appropriate to the new test requirements and have proved that you can be successful with the right preparation.
